Archived from groups: microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion (More info?)

 

When re-booting my desktop, I get the windows 98 logo, but the icons don't
display and the system stalls. No processing lights on the cpu. Any idea
what the problem might be or how I can check to see what the problem is?

Try booting in safe mode and check for viruses. It sounds like there is
something wrong with the explorer process which could be a virus. Have you
installed all the latest OS patches and hot fixes?
