what's Pi score based on? Why the hell is my P-D 3.2Ghz losing 5 sec for a P4 3.6Ghz 560. All the specs are the same beside the CPU... weird? or pi is just fuked up...

P4 560 = 37 sec
P-D 940 = 42 sec

More about : score 6ghz 2ghz

Pentium D is dual core, each core is slower, Super Pi isn't multi-threaded as far as I know.
May 8, 2006 4:25:23 PM

Superpi does not take more than one thread at a time. If you want to see a 570 get owned by your chip, try dual superpi =)

Didn't know they have dual pi lol, got a link I can download it?
May 8, 2006 5:24:41 PM

you copy the folder twice and run it once from each folder. yes, you do need two directories.
May 8, 2006 5:30:57 PM

AHH... lol that's the trick. But I disassemble my P4 3.6Ghz already oh well...
May 8, 2006 6:00:16 PM

times should be good two different speed cpus. Just wondering about the rest of your setup.
I have a D805 @3.4ghz time is 44sec
w p5wd2-e and 1 gig corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4 4-4-4-12

I got 21 sec on my AMD3700+. Beat that with your Intel :D

21 seconds my ass. My 2.9 venice and 2-2-2-5 ram gets 29 seconds.
May 9, 2006 1:42:10 PM

Dothan, or Yohan can both beat Athlon64's in Super PI, and are made by intel.... Conroe is gonna be master ot Super PI.

hahah my 2,9GHz is much faster than ours!!!!

I have got San Diego of the 3700+... You have got an OLD 3200+. That´s probably why I beat you so much...

Or you are full of bullsh*t. You would have to run three and a half ghz to get close to a 21 second 1m pi time.

NO I am NOT! Is there any verificationsystem so that I can show you? It really does Pi in 21 sec.
May 9, 2006 1:54:50 PM

Yes, I'd like to see a screenshot of the superpi time and the checksum.
May 9, 2006 1:56:00 PM

Sure you´ll get it! I will upload it directly when I come home from school!
May 9, 2006 2:32:31 PM

I don't believe you can really get 21sec lol, someone posted with a CPU of AMD X2 4800+ gets like 29sec back then. I forgot the rest of the setup but it was near top...

yeah, he's full of crap. a 6ghz Pentium 4 might get 21 seconds, but not much else..
May 9, 2006 2:49:41 PM

maybe he means the first section of it
May 9, 2006 3:02:31 PM

Myabe under 512K lol not 1M
May 9, 2006 3:28:38 PM

that would make sense. but who benches with 512k?
May 9, 2006 3:31:55 PM

The one that wants to get a low (x) second on super pi

ahah why don't we just all do 16?
May 9, 2006 3:56:41 PM

:o  that's a good idea, they will be posting 0 sec and think they are doing 1M
May 9, 2006 4:09:30 PM

yeah i can't wait for this screenshot
May 10, 2006 6:31:16 AM

I personally didnt build this rig for super pi but get 35 sec
of course I bumped er up a tad.
21 seconds ??
8O
lets see
May 10, 2006 7:39:15 AM

21 seconds? Requires a fast clocked CPU and uber fast RAM, but not that difficult...
X2 3800+ @2000MHz, 1xCorsair 1 Gb 2-3-3-5 @400MHz: 27 seconds
X2 3800+ @2400MHz, 1xCorsair 1 Gb 2-3-3-5 @480MHz: 23 seconds

Note that this is dual core on a single threaded app, so only one core is used.

Using a 2.6/2.8 GHz chip with dual channel RAM should allow 19s. no problem.

Oh, the P4 can't do it? You need a good K8 or a prototype Conroe for that, then.
May 10, 2006 8:35:05 AM

My athlon XP @ 2.305Ghz gets 44.something

haha he never posted the screenshot. odd, eh
May 10, 2006 1:54:28 PM

No proof... even if he did... probably photoshopped
May 10, 2006 2:09:46 PM

or maybe he made the same mistake I did and only took into account the first superpi iteration.

You give him too much credit - perhaps edited in Paint?
May 11, 2006 5:50:04 AM

Hello guys! I am sorry for that I haven´t send you any screenshot. I will try to take one this week. So you will be pleased :)

What mode should I run? 1M, 32M or what?

Ill tell you where you should run. Into a wall
May 11, 2006 7:17:01 AM

How hard can it be to take a screenshot? After all, it only takes you 21 seconds
May 11, 2006 8:06:35 AM

Run the 1,576,800 million decimal places mode SuperPi special edition, just for you.

When finished screenshot it.

Make sure to run on all your PCs at once, for comparison purposes... and remember: Don't move the mouse, don't touch the keyboard, and don't run any other apps until it is finished.

May 12, 2006 9:24:24 PM

Sorry guys! I don´t know where I got 21s from. I was sure it was that I got last time I ran SuperPI...

SuperPI v1.1:
256K: 5s
512K: 13s
1M: 29s
2M: 1min 13s

But that was with AntiVirus, WindowsUpdate and some backgroundprocesse on while I did :p

No seriously, I was wrong! Sorry!
May 13, 2006 12:08:55 PM

If you seriously wanted to show off your uber Pi score you would have closed Windows Update and your Anti-Virus.

Update and AV does not shave 8 seconds off your Pi score....and just admit you didn't get 21s - that's getting into Conroe speed territory, is it not?
May 13, 2006 4:40:34 PM

He apologised at least. Way to man up falsterbo, kuddos.
