Any new games coming out based on the doom3,hl2, or farcry engines? id really like to see what they could do with the half-life 2 engine.

hmmm, Quake4 comes to mind. Half Life2:Aftermath. I can't think of anything good coming out in the near future besides COD2.

Seriousley i was reading about stalker like 2 years ago and it was playable then, but they had a demo at some lanparty that was playable on multiplayer so it shouldnt be to long before it comes. Not like i can do any F*****G thing on this computer!!! i hate microsoft!!!, my computer has been throught about 36 crashes, 128 blue screens, and a million random reboots i am about ready to take some gasoline and matches to this piece of S**T. makes me want to give up computers

Upgrade from Windows ME and well.. 56k died a while ago.

It's cheaper to drop your phone line, get Cable and VoIP at home.

It'll run you.. 35 for able and 15-20 for VoIP?

Valve dumped Vivendi, the expansion will be steam based only I believe. Valve states broadband recommended everywhere and I'm sure 90% of steam users have broadband so they probably dont care much
DSL and Cable are cheaper than dialup even in my little rurual town out in the boonies. $14.95 for 1.5mb dsl, $19.95 for 3mb cable, and $21-$30 for 56k dialup.

There's a game in development called "Prey" which will be using the Doom3 engine. Also, "Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines" used the Half-Life 2 engine, but they didn't squeeze as much out of it as they could/should have.

I liked VtMB. At least they got the shadowing from multiple lightsources in Source right (didn't use the shortcuts that ValvE used for HL2 and CSS).

In what sense didn't they use the engine well enough in your opinion? In fact, I thought for what the game was, the Source engine was somewhat overkill for it but I liked the results anyway. Btw, if you find a copy of the game in a shop, just be informed that the developer of the game passed away (Troika) so there is no longer active support for the game. There were plenty of bugs in the release, some of them were addressed in patches (latest patch is 1.2). I played it from start to finish once with a single character, never got round to playing it again with another setup, but I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to RPG fans.

I pay $87 a month for 3.5mbs, extended basic cable, meaning I get music channels and some extra channels.

We have a local cable company that is bad-ass. They laid all fiber back in 97 through out our entire city.. long before most companies even thought about it. They ripped up everything.. 15 feet outside my dad's house is a fiber line.. they're just waiting to get fiber into homes now. It's crazy.. they spent millions to do this years ago and it's been paying off ever since.

You must be out in the middle of no where or in more of a rural countryside where internet demand isn't so demand.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the game (VtMB) alot, I thought it captured the vampire "feel" perfectly, it's just the character animations weren't quite on par with HL2. (which you could say would be expected as they came out roughly the same time as each other and seeing as they both used the HL2 engine, one would expect HL2 to show off the engine more, if that makes any sense...)

My guess is they had too many characters in the game so they couldn't use as detailed models as HL2 did, and probably ValvE kept some features for itself(which was your point).

Oops, that was old info. Latest I saw was that STALKER had been delayed till autumn 2006 (my September 2 date was actually referring to 2005). Seeing how Boiling Point turned out, it might even be a good thing, however the risk of outdated technology is increasing.

Also read somewhere else that STALKER may be out summer 2006 (which was more recent than the autumn statement), for sure it will not be released before april 2006 because it has not been included in any estimates for the end of THQ's book year (which ends with March).
