switching to nvidia card from ati and need info

OKay guys im switching to a 6800 gt from my x800 gt and im not familiar at all with nvidia card. IM very familiar with ATI and i need to know what stuff do you need with a Nvidia card. I know with ati you need the catalyst controle center, and stuff. What stuff will i need for the Nvidia card? Ill be using the omega drivers instead of the normal drivers. Thanks guys.

Use catalyst uninstaller from the Ati website first. Then swap cards.
Boot up, and reinstall the AGP Gart drivers for you MoBo then the Nvidia drivers.

The omega drivers for nvidia are older ones, no new ones for sometime now.

This is just my curiosity, by why the swap?

well the 6800 gt has pixel shader 3.0 and of course it has 16 pixel pipelines, 370 core clock, and 1000 mem clock. My x800 gt has 8 pixel pipelines, 475 core, 495 mem clock. just getting a better card thats all.

Yeah, I forgot for the moment there was that much difference, too many cards.

Someone please back me up on this... I think this guy is confused on the memory speed of one of those 2 cards... a 6800 GT just CAN'T have double the memory speed... that just doesn't add up.

It's just the different way of reading double data rate.

495x2=990ddr
1000%2=500ddr

Good choice of card,but do not use the omega drivers for nvidia.the other guy was right the omega drivers for nvidia are over a year old.you will get better performance out of the actual nvidia video drivers.most current version is a beta driver ver.84.43.works very good with my card.
