Quick Question about System

I have an A64 3200 (754) with a 6600GT and 1 gig of ram. I ran 3dmark06 and on the first test I am barely able to get 3 FPS. What is going on?

you shouldnt be getting that high. It is a very extream test and good PC's get less.

The 6600 GT is not THAT bad. Try another benchmark....

754 AMD 3200+ isnt a gaming beast
6600gt is getting just below a mid-range card


and its 3dmark06 ! , its a very demanding benchie

i got a score of 2,000 something

can u tell your score ???


its most likely your setup , dont expect great fps with a 6600gt and a 3200+

i barley get 25fps , drops 10 sometimes

3DMark is quite demanding and is known to be Intel and ATI biased.

The SPEC benchmarks tend to be better:

That would explain why I didn't get more than 1130 points with an overclocked X2 3800+ and an overclocked 6600...

OK, the 6600 is far from being a power beast, but I'll keep it until next-gen cards are out.

You might want to try the SPEC benchmarks on the same machine in Windoze and Linux and also run:

glxgears -v

and let it run for a while

you can resize the glxgears window and see how many FPS you're getting at each resolution
