Hi folks, just got my router setup. Very cool stuff. Anyway the only hitch is that it is now somewhat harder to determine my "external" IP, the fastest way I know of is to login to the router and ask it. Is there some really basic util out there (or perhaps in Windows?) that can get me that information, hopefully in a form that can be copied and pasted? That's all the functionality I need.

fmip.org
it maps your ip address to username.fmip.org. it runs a very small client on your computer that tells the server what your ip address is. instead of having to remember and check periodicaly what your ip address is you just need to remember that dns name.

usually the quickest way is to have a favorites bookmark to a webpage as was already mentioned, however sometimes quicker is under win95/98 type "winipcfg" at a DOS prompt - win2k/xp type "ipconfig"... Linux type "ifconfig"

corrected URL Interesting. For some reason if you use secure HTTP (https://), IE6 prepends the URL with a normal HTTP introducer (or whatever http:// is called). So just use http://
