Anyone know the difference between true air speed and indicated air speed?
Or are they the same?

You can calculate it here:

Hope this helps,

Here's a quick answer. As the names imply, true airspeed is the actual
speed of your aircraft through the air, and indicated airspeed is the
airspeed reading on your airspeed indicator. The airspeed indicator does
not actually measure speed, it measures the amount of air molecules hitting
your aircraft from the front. As you increase your true airspeed you hit
more molecules, so the indicator goes up, and at sea level your true
airspeed and your indicated air speed are the same. But if you climb in
altitude while maintaining the same true airspeed, the air gets thinner and
you hit fewer molecules so the airspeed indicator reads lower than your true
airspeed.

So why is the indicated airspeed important? Airspeed is your only speed
concern if you want to avoid overspeeding or stalling. The wings react only
to the amount of air they are passing through and don't care what your
actual speed is. So at 35,000 feet and 300 KIAS (knots indicated airspeed)
they perform much like they would at sea level at 300 KIAS, even though your
TAS (true airspeed) would be approximately 460 knots at 35,000 feet and only
300 knots at sea level.

Hi,

The way I do it is to choose Aircraft/Realism and change the setting to
TAS. Most (not all) airspeed indicators will then read in TAS. When
finished, switch back to IAS (the correct setting).

Hope this helps,
