right now i have a p4 640 oced to 3.8ghz. I can get it to a 4 ghz but i notice program crashes every once in a while.

i just read the article on this site about the pentium d 805, and i want to test that overclock so bad. Edit: i guess i should mention that the article said it can be oced to a 4.1 ghz

my question is, do you think that cpu oced to 3.8 would outperform my current cpu?

reason i say 3.8ghz as opposed to the rated 4.1ghz oc is because i currently do not have water cooling in my thermaltake armor case. i have all upgraded fans and a arctic freezer pro 7 hsf. The article recommended water cooling when oc'ing the pentium d 805 to 4.1ghz.

as a side note, i do alot of video editing on my pc and i do play games sometimes.

if what the article states is true, $130 makes for a nice upgrade :)

Pentioum D 805 is on a 533Mhz FSB, get the Pentium D 820, its better.

ur P4 runs on a 800Mhz FSB which is better than the 533

hmmm i see your point, but would that proc be able to oc as well as the 805? if oced, would that proc outperform my current overclock?

Edit: im hoping to overclock it to 3.8, which im guessing is not going to happen with the pd 820

the Pentium D 820 will hit 4 Ghz

I would stick with your 640@3.8. Is it really worth a processor uprade, for

such little improvement? Save your money (grin and bare it), then buy a

conroe when they come out. I think the wait will be worth it. :)
