my cpu is running at 3.2ghz with 800 FSB standard but now i have increased the FSB to 860 215x14 and CPU-Z frequency reading fluxuates between 3010 > 3440  .

i am trying to hit 3.4ghz but im not sure if my cpu is currently 3ghz or 3.4ghz.....any help wold be good thx.

I think that fluctuation might be caused by your processor getting too hot and throttling down to reduce heat, check your temps and there are programs that can check if your cpu is throttling, cant remember what they're called tho

Did you change the HSF or are you still using the one that came in the box?

Are you changing the vcore when you are overclocking or are you keeping it at factory levels?

Hope this helps

The CPU temp is staying between 30-50•c .I am pretty sure it isnt throttling.Would HT have anything to do with it?

I have a thermal take big typhoon and artic 5.And no I havent changed the V-Core or any voltages :?

well then I dont know what the problem might be, Maybe someone else on the forums had a simmilar problem.

you could always try a lower overclock and see if cpu-z gives you the same fluctuations.

I have the P4 530 and I know that my frequency fluctuates normally. Its just the cool and quiet or whatever it's called that throttles down the cpu when its not being used as far as i know. I just make it run some cpu intensive program and check it then.
