I can't really find an area that this topic could fit in so sorry if I stuffed up.
I have what could be a simple question.
I would like to make an ultra low voltage linux based system for playing MP3's. I don't really want to explain why, but I guess if needed I could try. It needs to boot quick, read flash disks (or memory keys, whatever you call them) and play the afore mentioned mp3's. It also needs a parallel prot and a usb port. Is this asking for too much? Wolud I be better off buying a cheap PDA or notebook? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds doable(a real word?). Knoppix...of course will fill your need for a

Linux Distro. Download the ISO, using NERO...burn the ISO to disc. As far

as low voltage, don't really know why you are worried about that- unless

laptop, but your "platform" would already have that covered...yea, or neah.

If you want a platform to run that on, no doubt VIA processors are the

most "voltage efficient", but don't expect to do alot else with it, as they

are DOGS....power wise. Kind of similar to a diesel car engine.

The reason I don't want to use much power is because I want it left on all of the time, but I don't like wasting power, and also because one would assume that low power meant low heat.
