Problem playing dvd movies, help needed asap!

All of the sudden out of the blue i couldnt play dvd movies anymore. i have tried wmp and a number of others. it just displays a grey screen. players like vlc player plays them but does not continue them like with wmp. so the greay problem is only with media player. however i need to play dvd movies all the way through not only that .vob file. i need to fix media player. i have tried reinstalling etc. please help asap.
