Laptop on network not connecting to internet

Hello,
My laptop is on a network and is connected to the network and internet but when I try pulling up the internet it says it cannot connect that it is disabled! Please Help!

run this test-
on xp - start > run > "cmd" > type "ping www.google.com"

on vista/7 - start > search "cmd" > (right click 'run as admin') > type "ping www.google.com
