Hi,

My old laptop is toshiba 5105-s501.

-Pentium 4 M 1.7G
-Hdd is PATA 10GB
-Memory is 512M DDR.
-Bios: A little bit tricky, it can only be changed from windows applet provided by toshiba. Cannot be access from boot up sequence.
- Seems like does not support USB drive boot.
- No Toshiba recovery CD.

I took it from my garage and want to install Windows7 for my daughter.

However,
1. It does not boot XP CD (only blank screen)
- May be, it denies standard XP except toshiba recovery CD?

2. It boots VISTA and Windoes 7 DVD, but cannot install.
- When it selects the target HDD drive, Error message is it cannot find device driver

3. I installed Ubuntu successfully.

I think there is noting wrong to the laptop.
Then, what is the problem?

I installed windows more than 100 times, but this is a very strange experience.

Could you be more specific? What exactly is the message stated when you try installing 7 or Vista?
