Anyone heard of this PPU?

GPU - Graphics processing unit.
PPU - Physics processing unit.

I just saw this today online and have never even heard of it. It is supposed to work with your GPU and CPU in a "GRAPHICS TRIANGLE" thats how this company touted it "www.ageia.com" check it out let me know what you think.

I may have missed the boat on this entirely and im gona get the crap flamed out of me.

The Ageia PhysX board has been around the news for a few months, and now is officialy released, at a U$S 350+ price tag
Look around in google, I've seen some benchs of it, but I can't remember where...

Okay, I don't blame you for not knowing this but this new hardware, basically improves the movements and explosion effects on games and 3D applications. Currently it supports few games like GRAW (that's Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter if you missed that also) but right now it's not wise to purchase this card as some reviews have tested it and it is known to be causing a slowdown in performance. It's gonna be a cool upgrade that is if there's a great game that fully supports it, comes out.

I don't see much of a point in buying a PPU anyways, considering that physics processing can be done by the cpu/gpu anyways, there will probably be separate specific PPU's built onto cards in the future anyways...

That's more likely, due to the research that NVidia (I don't know if ATI is doing it, but it should) is doing with SLI, promising a future driver that will enable physics calculation through one card in a SLI setup. While one card is rendering, the other one is calculating physics!
Anyone saw this coming? I did! 8)

For now, don't you think game makers should focus on getting our second cpu core to do something other than scan for viruses in the background?

That extra core would be alot more handy than that PPU.
