MB: ASUS P5S800-VM - Updated to Most current Bios 2006-05
CPU: Intel 3.0 530J
Mem: 2x512 PC3200 Blitz 3-4-4-8 memory
When I run sandra memory bandwidth test on this it around 1700mb. I played around with the settings and I can get it up to around 1780.
This seems low to me by I have nothing to compare it against.
I have a Dell 4700 with a gig of DDR2 with a 530 processor and it is around 3000 mb but then it is DDR2 so not sure if ther is that much difference.
The CPU (edit corrected numbers)whetstone/drystone is 8779/6183 which seems about right.
I picked up the memory on EBay and had a problem so I got an RMA from the distributer and they replaced the memory.
This is Sandra results with Default mother board settings where it determines the memory setting automatically. It shows channels as one. Is this correct?
Summary from Everest:
So I am looking to see if this is what I should expect from this setup or do I have something setup wrong? This is the first time that I have built a system completely from parts and want to make sure that I am not overlooking something.
Yes it's correct, the SIS661 chipset only has a single channel memory controler.

You have 2 sticks of memory filling both slots, this switches the MoBo to 2T Command Rate, which slows the memory down some on top of the higher latencies.
I have been playing around with my other computer that runs the SIS661, switching between running 1 and 2 sticks of memory at the different CMD Rates. I get a score of 2196MB/s with 1x512mb 1T CMD Rate. I think I got around the same as you with 2x512 2T CMD rate.
