I know most the people here will never touch a 7300GT, but it is likely to be the best selling GPU this year. I checked Evga's website, and they have 3 flavors in the works already: 512, 256, & 128. It sure would be nice if someone would do a real review of all three and how they compair. Maybe add in the 7600GS's at different core and memory clocks as well? Any opinions?

The 7300GS is a sh!tty card that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot stick. A 512MB 7300GS is the most pointless card ever; it takes 256MB out of system RAM, and has a 64-bit memory bus. The 512MB VRAM is purely marketing BS; the average consumer would take that over a 7900GT because the 7900GT has 256MB VRAM. Just like the average consumer would take a 2.8GHz P4 over an FX60 because the FX60 is 2.6GHz.

Uh, Hi Ducky! You might want to know this thread is about the 7300GT which is 8 pipes and 550mhz and based off the same g73 core as the 7600's but has one quad disabled. Thus, it is like a revised 6600gt. Different card. Sorry.

I didn't know that there is such thing as a 7300GT. Can you post a link to where you found it, please?

You haven't heard of it yet because it is just being released. Yesterday was the launch date, to my knowledge, but no one has one on the shelf yet from what I've found. Like the 7300GS, it is likely it is being released in Asian and Europe first (their markets are better for low & mid end cards). Here's two links:

It looks interesting, but at $130 for 256MB VRAM and a 128-bit bus, it's too close to the price of the 7600GT to be called a good value. Heck, there are some 7600GSs that cost less than $130, all of which will own these 7300GTs.

The MSRP is silly, but real street price is more likely to fall around $90, which is where it might do very well, and if it drops to $60 within a few months, they should sell even better.

At $60, this is a whole different discussion.

Yes it is. And if they hope to sell ANY of these, the price has to be in that neighborhood. I can buy a 7600gs for $110, so give me a reason not to, or I won't, right? But at $60, this would take over the lowend and that would hopefully get game designers to advance things quicker. Too much has been delayed do to onboard Intel graphics.

The launch date for the 7300 GT's is actually today (Mon.15). I have not been able to find much info on any of the 7300GT's accept for this intruiging little article: http://www.hkepc.com/hwdb/gf7300gt-1.htm

Performance wise the 7300GT is on par with the 6600Since this card is based on the G73 of the 7600 it may be possible to unlock the disabled quad to get the full 12 pipes of the 7600. The stock clocks are 350/667 and can be clocked as high as 450/800, in the case of the Gigabyte GV-NX73T256P-RH version. With a 3rd party cooling solution the OC'ing potential could be much better. As all info to date shows that the 7300 GT will not use TC as the GS did, it has a 128bit mem bus, and uses GDDR3 instead of DDR2 like the GS. For less than $100USD this card should rule the low-end budget market for a while,... if you can find a dealer that sells them yet.

I think that one of the 7300GTs has TC because there are two 256MB versions. If these things unlock and OC well, they're starting to look like a great deal, as long as you get the one with the 128-bit bus.
