Hey there, I'm trying to troubleshoot the cause of random crashes on a computer i build for a friend.

He's had varying stop codes, 0x3b a few times, 0x7f a couple times, and a 0x7e, and probably a couple others he didn't tell me about.

I tried to figure out the mini dump debugging, and got as far as loading up the dmp files in dumpchk... however it was telling me that i don't have the proper symbols, and i can't seem to find the answer to this problem on google.

Anyway, the dump files are here, if you have some spare time to burn helping me out:

Code:

[url=http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041811-16442-01.dmp]http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041811-16442-01.dmp[/url]
http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041611-15225-01.dmp
[url=http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041511-31184-01.dmp]http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041511-31184-01.dmp[/url]
http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/041811-14726-01.dmp
http://files.scottyshideout.com//files/1/dumpfiles/060710-35724-01.dmp

The ones i did open, even though it told me the symbols were incorrect, pointed to ntoskrnl.exe as the cause.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

No office meant, but if you don't know how to open these files, you won't be able to do anything with them once you have it open. If you don't know how to open the hood of you car, would you be able to fix the alternator?

Those files were meant to be sent to MS for debugging.

I'd re-install Windows, and add the proper drivers for hardware a bit at a time, testing the PC between each installation.

Changing out the RAM may help also.

Well, when i was searching google based on the various stop codes i was getting, i saw quite a few threads here where dmp files were requested of individuals who were having BSOD's. I figured i'd cut to the chase and offer them up off the bat.

I also understand that there is going to be a lot of information in these dump files which wont mean jack to me, but again as i mentioned above, I saw people on this board were helping to decipher what exactly the dmp files meant.

I guess y'all can't assume, but I never post a thread flippantly. I only post and ask for help when I feel the computer has defeated me, which is the case here. I'd already been working with this computer for a week or so.

So here's what i've done already: 2 12hr+ runs of memetest 4.1+, 4 hours furmark, and about 4 hours on Prime95.

Before this I'd already tried reinstalling the OS to rule that out. This didn't fix the problem, and the stress testing passed with flying colors. Oh, we also switched video cards for a couple days.

This is why i started trying to look at the STOP codes and dmp files more closely, as my traditional methods of "trial-and-error" troubleshooting was not pinpointing the problem.
