Hi
Right now i have eVga 6800 GT AGP card installed. most of the games work fine on my computer. I just wanted an advice, Should i upgrade to the BFG GEFORCE 7800 GS OC 256MB AGP 8X VIDEO CARD or maybe something else . The only thing is i dont have PCI E support and i dont have enought money to buy a new board + a new video card. So i want to know if its worth it to upgrade to a new AGP card and if yes is the 7800 GS ok or there is somethign better i can look at?

The best you can get is Gainward's 7800 GS+, which is actually a 7900 GT. But unless you're in europe it's very hard to get.

I wouldn't bother upgrading to a regular 7800 GS from a 6800 GT. The difference will be minimal. The money is best saved and applied to a PCI-express platform, where you can get a true 7900 GT or X1800 XT for under $300...

Personally I don't consider it a clever expenditure going from one generation of cards to the next in line (comparing similarly priced components). If you were upgrading from a X300 to a X1900 you would see a tremendous improvement but from an 6800 to a 7800 it's not really worth it. You should either wait for sth good among next gen cards (and keep your fingers crossed for AGP), or buy a mobo and GPU now, or buy a mobo with PCIe and a cheap graphics card now and wait for next gen to upgrade to sth truly worth your while.

I don't think anyone here is saying the 7800 GS is a bad card... but that 6800 card you already have is still a decent/good card. I agree that it's wise to try to skip GPU generations... I have a 7800 GTX 256 MB and although I know I'd do better with an ATI 1900 series card... I just can't drop $400+ on a card like that just for a modest bump in performance. Wait or regret... it's your choice!
