Are you certain you want to go with small form factor? If you must, you might want to hold off a bit - I hear that Asus and DFI have new models upcoming that perform much better than the one on your list.

Go larger than 80Gb on the HD. HD size is cheap these days. Maximum PC just published a special issue about PC building. Go check out their $975 build. You can beat their price if you watch close and have a fast mouse trigger, especially if you avoid an SLI mobo.

WHY?! That system is going to suck as bad as your 8200... Unless you overclock the hell out of it the 805 sucks really bad, and if you are new to building, I highly doubt you will get an overclock good enough to make that worth it. That CPU cranks out heat so bad that MircoATX cases just will not work. On top of that, you picked a motherboard you cannot even overclock with. If you want to go.. Go AMD , it rocks Intel and you can get and AMD system around the same price. Look at the 3000+ or the 3200+ and an A8N-E motherboard from Asus.

2 problems i have with this set up..... first... the ATA 100 hard drive. the parallel ATA spec is dead... go with a SATA drive (actually SATA2 because they are already cheaper, or quickly becoming cheaper than the SATA1 drives).

Now shadowduck is partly right... but he is exaggerating a bit... the processor you picked isn't great for gaming... you are going to have to OC it a crapload before you'll get good results, but it's not going to suck as much as your old dell. The 805 runs cool, but if you overclock it.. it's going to get quite a bit warmer... especially if you get to frequencies of 3.5..... 3.6 and like he also said... the case may not be able to handle it. In terms of gaming... for what chip range you're looking at.... good for gaming but not totally top of the line... the AMD chips do beat comparable Intel chips... In your case, AMD would probably be a better way to go.

This guy seems like a total n00b; he probably doesn't even know what overclocking is.

actually ducky... i'm speaking from experience... my sister's friend has an 805 on stock cooling, and i've seen the temps... I then told him it could go much higher and ran it to 3.4... the temps as expected, increased by quite a bit, but the chip and the stock cooler could still handle it. I did understate that the 805 wasn't great for gaming.... because shadowduck was right about that one for sure.. it sucks for gaming. However, after building computers for 4 years (over 100 systems in that time)and having recieved only 2 complaints about specific systems, I am definitly not a noob. It also just so happens that I know what overclocking is (especially since i'm currently running my P4 630 at 3.4 on stock cooling, with no vcore adjustments). Yesterday I discovered that the reason i couldn't go any higher was because my ram didn't like running any higher than about 233mhz (real clock) with occasional blue screens down to 230mhz. The only way I could get cpu clock to 3.6 was to set the fsb:ram ratio to 3:2. I then set ratio back to 1:1, and the fsb back to 227mhz as it is now, since I was only doing that to determine what the limiting factor was in my set up.

all this at newegg is about $950

Someone else might want to have a look at this, but the case you mentioned appears to come with a 420W 20 pin power supply. Your motherboard needs a 24pin supply. Either check and make sure i'm not going crazy and seeing things, find a different case with a 24pin PSU, or buy a seperate 24 pin supply and do whatever you want with the one that comes in the case.

Hey, I don't know your budget (I only scanned the replies...), but if you want a good gaming machine, here are some suggestions:

1) Upgrade to the ASUS A8N-Sli for $14.00 more (DFI is more for experts, I reccomend the ASUS for simplicity, good OC results, and a nice 3 year warranty) and it gives you option for SLi

2) Upgrade the RAM to Corsair XMS for $50 more http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145574

3) Upgrade to a better PSU, I reccomend OCZ, Seasonic, Silverstone, Enermax, and perhaps the Thermaltake Toughpower series.

4) (As a bias opinion), consider these cases from Thermaltake: the Matrix or Soprano; they offer BETTER cooling features, and one is lightweight aluminum.

Suggestions 2-4 are good ones. But DO NOT upgrade to the A8N-SLI. Its a horrible board with high rates of failure. Plus, if you are a budget you don't need SLI anyway. The A8N-E is solid stick with that.

None, the motherboard will come with all your cables. Motherboard will fit in your case fine. ATX is a standard.
