Hello.

Here i have 2 computers, both with internet through a hub. the hub connects to an ADSL Modem. One computer with win 98 and the other with xp pro.

Both computers on internet have the same IP. The TCP/IP is configurated to obtain the IP "automatically" but ever is the same IP on both computers.

I want to know if i can change the ip to other numbers for both computers and how i do it ??

Thanks.

P.D: Both computers have File & Printer Sharing sucessfully.

if that's the IP you're getting from the ISP, the answer is no.

A hub is just going to send the same signal to everycomputer. What you need to do is either get a Cable/dsl router or connect one computer to the other and use ICS to share the connection. You also might try contacting your ISP and see about getting another ip address, which might mean getting another modem and paying extra.

U can use that hub just fine. Make sure that one comp has PPPoE driver installed (or similar), and its runs a NAT service to the other computers. As with the other computers, u have to change the gateway and dns servers ip address to the ones that runs the NAT service and connected to the net.

Hmm, my previous post was a lil offtopic.

I guess u installed PPPoE on booth computer, and connected to the net with booth of them. Be carefull, some companis dont allow this, some others even limit it (here i can connect with 3 computer, though the summarised speed will be the same;)

The ip will be the same no matter what u do (except if u use different account on each computer).

either get router with nat, that one you mentioned may have it, dont know, or call your isp and tell them you would like to get another ip address, they may give you one free, most places charge 3 bucks a month more per additional ip address.

sure, that box has everything in it. Just enable NAT (like jhiggs sais) and you should get discreet IP addresses on each PC. If not, the modem/router might need to be flashed or something.
