WTF!!! The single player demo says its locked until 26/7/05t, yet it installed on my slower system and starts up without saying anything(9800 Pro, Xp2000, 768mb PC2100). I wanna see it run on my good system(6800 GT, A64 3200 OCed to 2.4 1:1, 2gb PC4000), i've downloaded it from file planet and 3dgamers and both times its f***ing locked until such and such date. This is really dumb and pisses me off severely. Any ideas?

I figured it out, thx. It was really dumb, my windows clock for some reason, who knows why with microsoft, decided it wanted the month to be january instead of august, lol. I changed it and it works now. thx for the help.
The demo has solid game play, graphics are really good, as are the environmental sounds and music. Good creepy effects.
An important aspect of this shooter is supposedly the storyline itself. That cannot be determined from the demo. If the story is decent, then this is a must have. If it has a good story with some unexpected turning points in the plot, then FEAR will be up for the game of the year award (certainly FPS of the year). At the minimum it will deliver what Doom3 was supposed to be like.

Story line aside, its just plain old fun. I have not had this much fun in a single player game since HL2 FIRST came out. I'd say HL2's major flaw was its AI. The AI in HL2 is pretty crappy if you ask me, and not very agressive either, although there are plenty of mods to fix that. Anyway, what really makes this game fun to play(from the few seconds of the demo, shortest demo i've ever played) is the way fights take place, they are very intense, not only speed wise but the damage that takes place, you can literally blow chunks out of walls, anything metal sparks when hit even the steel plated body armor they wear, blood splattering, limbs flying to a fro. The sparks all have individual physics, so they bounce off the ground and objects, particle affects are good too. Its just a much more intense atmosphere than HL2 or D3 had. I really liked it. It takes a beast of a system to run though, i have a 6800GT, A64 3200 OC to 2.4 1:1, 2gb or OCZ PC4000 and i can only run it at 1024x768 with all high no aa and 4x aniso(which is what it auto detects). Kinda sucks casue i have 19" LCD, so it takes away a bit of image quality, but for some reason its MUCH less noticeable in F.E.A.R. and other games like BF2.
