I was just running my card(X805XT) on OC settings in MOHAAB for 30 min, then i started getting artifacts (visual), its only overclocked to 560/600 and the temp was max 65. i never got artifacts before like that.. could the card be frying? I dont understand. Is there something I am missing?

More about : artifacts

if you're getting artifacts... reduce the clocks back to stock and then slowly OC back from there... the moment you notice artifacts, turn the clocks down a little bit.

Try out ATi Tool if you don't already have it. It has its own automatic overclocking feature (if you choose to use it) AND an artifact scanner to screen for issues with OCs.

See thats the problem, I use ATItool and I ran it right after I seen the artifacts, None showed up in it for the first 10 minutes but i could clearly see them in the game

This is heat buildup over time. Needs more cooling / less overclock. If that temp was 65 C, that's 149 F. That may be on the edge. Plus those readings you get aren't that accurate. Could be higher than reported.
55 C is 131 F. Over that and my old TI4600 would have the same symptoms.
--"card be frying?"-- No such thing. No half way. Either does a thermal shutdown, and recovers, or burns out and will never again function, which is more rare and usually from excessive overvoltage.
More cooling / Less overclock.

Well, I guess that is a good thing, I have about 100 dollars worth of air cooling products on its way in the mail, Arctic cooler 5 rev 2, Scythe Kama bay system cooler, new 120mm fans, heat spreaders and such.. so that should greatly help i would think....

And when you say heat build up over time.. Ive only had this card a little over 2 months now.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. By "Over time", I meant since bootup. Everything in the box is warming up. Now you have very warm components, then you send the GPU a frag fest. He can't keep a cool head and goes Tilt.
Sounds like your on the right track ordering cooling gear.
Keep the faith.

just my 2 cents

try turning down the memory speed by 10 or so mhz

my x850 used to do 600 and does not any more(did it when it was new...new ram sink time)...not sure y? extra heat. could be....but 65 is not gonna kill your card. I can say i had mine upto 90c with no probs at all.... was the x850pro(what a crap heat sink) unlocked @ 600 / 600... at about 92 i said hell new heatsink time and clocked it back to 520 and it still ran at 85. now it runs in the 50's and low 60's at times.

hope this helps

Zowwie Batman !!
92 C is almost 200 F That should have kept your coffee warm.

I have heard MANY x850xt's run 70-90... i want to keep mine lower thatts why i bought the arctic cooler... Ive read recently that the fan on them die quick tho.. anyone have experience with this?

in ATItool I hate to manualy move the little counter thing up my self cause that always creates artifacts for me, but I can get the clock speeds I want if I allows ATItool to do it for me weird....

Well, I would say to start with your memory speeds..since the memory cannot take as high an overclock (% wise) than the GPU. I would advise, bumping down the memory
3 MHZ at a time, until the artifacts dissappear. If this doesn't help, do the same with the Core..in 3 MHZ installments.
Now, I have used ATI Tool and it is very elusive in that it won't display artifacts, but when you test using 3D Mark (or other software), artifacts will show up.

I do not use ATI tool, I have a Radeon 9550 overclocked by (Core - 100% from 200MHZ to 450MHZ and memory - 40% from 200MHZx2 to 280MHZ x 2) - 450/560
I overclocked to this point using Radlinker, and it is flawless, but has no testing capabilities. With ATI tool, artifacts weren't detected until 500MHZ core and 300MHZ memory.. but when I ran 3D Mark...I had artifacts at the first test. So, use ATI tool if anything just to overclock and find "max" settings, but test those settings out in 3D Mark etc....for stability.

Hope this helps!

My asus x850xt runs just fine ar those speeds with the stock cooler and the fan set to 100% (im a metalhead, i dont hear it over the music).
Right now the card peaks at arround 80C since its the summer while runing at 570/620 24/7. the hihgest benchstable iv gotten from it was 586/636 with no artifacts but it wasnt stable ennough for anything but benching. Guess i got lucky with my card then.

Edit: gah jsut now noticed how old this thread is, been up all night, sorry

Odd, when I used ATI Tool, artifacts showed up on the cube thing, but didn't appear in 3dMark 2001se at all. Funny how things like that work isn't it. But, for Circa 2000, probably heat, my Radeon (damn piece of #$%@ shows artifacts after a while, even though it doesn't feel hot :(  .
