I have two 7800GT's (SLI connected but disabled). Each card supports a maximum of 2560X1600. I'm not sure if this is "addative". IE, not sure if I have a total capable resolution of 5120x3200 or if it's still limited to 2 2560x1600.

I would like to do TWO LCDs at 1680x1050 plus a 1280X1024. So a total of 3 LCDs. If my total resolution available is "addative" then I think this will work. If it's not addative, I think I'm limited to just the two 1680x1050's.

How does the resolution capability work when you have two 7800GT's?

Thanks,
SC

Ok, let's start at the start...

The rating of 2560x1600 is what each of the display driver chips are capable of pushing, so each output is capable of 2560x1600. As you have 2 cards, so long as you keep them out of SLI mode, that is 4 2560x1600 displays possible. As such, the notion of "additive pixels" isn't accurate, it kinda works that way as far as performance goes (i.e. more desktop real estate, the lower the performance) but has nothing to do ability to display more or fewer pixels. With that said, you will be able to have 2x 1680x1050 LCDs and a 1280x1024 if you keep them out of SLI. Which, btw, means you should remove the SLI bridge, it's not doing anything for you.

By removing the SLI bridge, what do I gain if SLI is disabled via the software (drivers)?

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense.

More than anything, it's akin to removing an IDE if there's nothing hooked up to it. Less of a chance of oddness going on even though there should be no communication between the cards.

Hope this helps.
