Currently I'm running Windows XP 32 bit SP2. Rather than buying the upgrade version to Windows 7, I purchased the full install and plan to run 64bit. Without boring anyone with the details as to why , my question is this....



Whats the best way to do a clean/fresh install on a hard drive that already has an OS installed? I have already backed up my pics/music on a separate hard drive.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Boot with your Windows 7 DVD - choose custom install then format your HDD. That way you can be sure that no leftovers from your old OS are still on the drive.

download the Ultimate Boot CD and in the Hard Drive section run Wipe, it destroys the MBR, then do the install
