hi to all at TGForumz,

i have a ASUS P4S333-VM mobo with AGP4X slot, Intel Pentium P-4 1.5 Ghz, 768 (512+256) MB PC 2700 RAM and XFX FX 5700LE 256MB AGP Gfx Card  . can i flash the bios of this card with the bios of a vanilla 5700. if yes can u tell me the procedure. will Flashing the BIOS increase the performance? or shall i sell this one and buy a second hand 128 MB 9800 pro. how much will be the performance jump if i change to a 128 MB 9800 pro? i have played DOOM, NFSMW with decent frame rates with this 5700LE. but i want to play HL2, FEAR, COD2, BF2 at medium settings. will changing to a 9800 pro help? just keep in mind that there are no major upgrades for me in the near future.

TIA for all the help and assistance.

wont make a difference, those games wont play bf2 at med setting maybe single player multi no way dude.
Most cases you can not use a different bios flash from a le to extreme or ultra promps come up saying identifier dont match nvflash will now end.

you will use nibtor to read your current bios also save it you can now adjust your bios to your needs once done you save that, make a boot floppy. {a:format copy system files now you have a boot floppy]
down load nvflash put on floppy with your new bios

WARNING I am in no way responsible if you card is damaged, try on your own risk only experience system intergrators should peform these task or people with good trouble shooting experience

Buy the 9800Pro, nothing to think here...
Yes, the 5700 vanilla BIOS would give you a little performance jump, because of increased clock speeds... But nothing more.
The ATI 9800Pro is an AWESOME card, awesome bang for the buck, and wipes the floor with your actual 5700LE

What is your current 3dmark2001 score? You should see some improvement by going to the better card, how much depends. One of your (many) problems is your being held back by that horrid cpu.

that computer isnt worth spending ANY money on so dont. your wasting all of it. the 9800 Pro was a nice card in its day but its day is gone. HL2 will play some on it but FEAR and BF2 are gonna be low settings, and in fact BF2 I played on mostly low settings WITH an A64 3000+ so your 1.5P4 is dead. Dont waste your money. Maybe flashign yoru BIOS to help a bit for now since thats free but save your money and build a new rig when ya can.

As other people said. It isn't worth the effort.

In fact, the "LE" in Nvidia terms actually stands for "Lame Edition." Nvidia continued this tradition with the 6600LE.
