Guys im currently in the thought proccess of building a new rig for €1000 to €1200. I was thinking amd 64 3000 socket 939 and then amd 3800x2 socket am2 but with the performance of conroe for divx and gaming it has made me want to change. So if anyone can answer these questions I would really appreciate it.
Q1.Pricing will there be a conroe or core duo 2 chip as there called now available for under €300 that will perform better than amd fx57 and will be it released
Q2.Does anyone know the price of decent motherboards to support it.
Q3.What is the temp and power usage like, hope its not as hot as my P4 550
Sorry about posting this here I know there must be a million similar posts but I have to go to work in a hour and knowing I can get this chip cheap and hopefully soon will make work tonight go much quicker thanks lads
Today is the first day of AM2 and i dont see it anywhere.
Honestly did you really think the platform would be readily available when AMD claimed it would be? Yes i did Nvidia always has cards available how come Amd cant do the same with it's procs?

They don't have the production capacity to meet the production models that AMD claims they can do with a new product line, white smoke pretty well.

It is not a paper launch.
This is the day system builders like Alienware can start selling PCs using the AM2 CPU.
Note that the FX-62 is listed as a choice. The FX-62 CPU is socket AM2.
AM2 Athlons will not be commercially available to the general public until next month.
Expect the same thing when Conroe is released next month. People will not be able to buy the CPU until July. But desktops with Conroe will be available for sale.

I rather think not Intel has made several statements that the said release dates will hold true for an OEM and retail roll out for Core2 Duo and accompanying platform revision. Additionally recent engineering samples have shown the process is mature, yields are high, and the CPU and platform appear ready for market.

Ya but most likely it will be a paper launch maybe not for OEM's but for the rest of us, we probably won't see it in the channels for 3-6 weeks.
