If the two devices are the same you can do a rstore but if they are
different models then you won't be able to restore your backup. If all you
want to do is re-use the same partnership name as the old device then do as
follows.
Open Activesync on the desktop without the device in the cradle and make
sure the partnership that you want to use is displayed ie the name that is
shown in activesync. Next click File>Delete Partnership, you will get a
confirmation about your intent to delete the partnership. You want to click
yes on that prompt, then you will get a confirmation to delete your
syncronized folder CLICK NO. After you finish all of that then you should
be able to cradle your device and set the items you wish to sync and that's
it. You will have to use the add/remove tools in activesync to install your
programs back onto the device. Hope this helps.
