i need help. im trying to decide between a 7600gs and a 6800xt. i know the 7600gs is newer. BUT...and this is where the kick is...the 7600gs only has 128-bit memory at 800 mhz, whereas the 6800xt has 256-bit at 1000 mhz. which one is better?

better go with the 7600gs, i've heard it was better than a 6600gt or a 6800xt, and it's silent due to the lack of a cooling fan.

Specs;

7600GS 12/12 pixel shaders/textures per clock 5 vertex, 9.0c, 400/800 MHz Core/Mem
6800XT 8/8 pixels shaders/textures per clock, 4 vertex, 9.0c, 325/700 MHz Core/Mem

the 7600gs looks a better buy (the 6800xt has never been favourably talked about)

A 7600 GS will own a 6800 XT.

There is a chance the 6800 XT could be unlocked to 16 pipes, and then it'd be better, but it's not worth the risk.

The 7600 GS will perform well stock and overclock to good effect if desired.
