This might seem like a stupid question, but I just ordered a AGP Sapphire x800gto from newegg, retail: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102609. I have done a lot of searching around about this card, and I have found that some of them can be unlocked, and I have also found that there are several differences between pictures of the sapphire x800gto. For example, there is an OEM version of the same card of newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102608) with a different model number (no L) and different picture (look at the top left of the card in the two pictures, there are missing diodes). I have also found there are red versions and blue versions. Are there any real differences in these chips?

I would expect the Blue version to have a different GPU core than the Red version. The Red ones seem to come with the R430 which is usually unlockable but not highly overclockable. The bule ones I think come with the R423 or something like that. I don't know as much about the Blue ones because I have the Red one. It seems like all of the Sapphire cards are Red R430s now.

The success rate of unlocking is pretty high. In the post below there are a couple of guys that unlocked their cards. I have helped two others guys from the forums unlock their cards also.

These two guys had trouble with the bios modification method for unlocking their cards. I am not sure why. But they both got it to work by using an X800XL bios.
