Hi! I have
p D 830 3.0 ghz
Abit ni8 sli
x18000xt
2x1 gb crucial ballistix 6400

When I OC the cpu to 3.3 ghz, and volt from 1.4 to 1.425 (and decreast ram mhz a bit) the pc crashes in windows (or before I get into windows xp) Not restarting, just freeze the screen... and I have to restart the pc...

So what is causing this crash? I have a good cpu fan... cpu temp not over 45 C... Cound the ram or chipset be overheated? Have the "silent otes" chipset cooling...

What is normaly causing these freezes?

Thank you!!!

Try and check what the RAM voltage is set to. I would up the voltage
.10 volt. GL.. :)

If this doesn't work, try setting the memory to SPD, just to test if the
timings are too tight.

Hi! I tryed setting ram volt from 2.10 to 2.20. I've tryed to set timings from 4-4-4-18-24 to 5-5-5-19-25 same thing happens: freezes before logged on to windows...

???

What RAM speed are you running them at? You have the RAM
overclocked by 20%, matching FSB O/C, not to mention if you have it set at
800MHz. If it's set to 800+20% o/c, that means it's running at 960.

Here's a link to a test of Crucial PC6400..Not sure if it's the same ram you're
running, but take a look....They had to up the voltage to 2.30v. GL :)

Read the conclusion on the last page.

Also on page 2:

DDR voltage was a major factor in system stability, especially running games such as Far Cry and DOOM 3. There were numerous times I thought overclocking had corrupted my Config.sys (from the Error codes) yet increasing voltage allowed for stable operation without the need to re-copy or edit the Registry. In fact I may have learned more during these tests than with any other test. Several errors prevented me from booting into Windows and each time memory voltage increases mitigated the errors.

HI! I've set the ram down to 700 mhz, should be fine on 3,3 ghz...

Tryed the ram volt to 2.3 but didn't work...

One thing, If I start up when pc is cold, than it lasts a few minutes longer before it freezes... So is something getting hot? (not the cpu or gpu or psu)

Thank you!!!

That's possible..I would suggest starting up with the case opened. Feel

the RAM, and once it runs a few minutes fell it again. It shouldn't be too

hot to touch. If it is, then you'll need to direct a fan towards the RAM.

GL :)

PS. I would do the touch test on the Chipset cooler, to make sure the

"silent otes" is working properly. If there isn't enough case flow, then it

may not be working efficiently, causing the chipset to gradually overheat.

The only thing hot was the mobo chipset, I cooled it down with a vacum cleaner... :D But didn't get stable... in only 3.3 ghz I've tryed these different things:
1. Ram mhz from 400 to 800
2. timings from 4-4-4-18-24 to 5-5-5-19-25
3. Ram volt from 2.10 to 2.30
4. CPU volt from 1.4 to 1.57

It always freezes: before bios, before logging into windows, right after logging in, or if it hasn't freezed yet, it does in 3dmark05 (cputest)

Should I give up this OC? Or any last tips?

Thank you!!!

I have no knowledge of Abit mobos. However, some mobos automatically OC the PCI Express &/or PCI slots when you OC the FSB. The mobos that I have used allow you to lock these slots at standard frequencies when overclocking. Check you BIOS settings to insure that you are not inadvertently over clocking them. Given that you are experiencing video freezes, I suspect the PCI Express Slot is OCed.

Hi! The pciE is at 100 mhz and thans the lowest a can set it... Dont think I can lock it... But how does pcie or mem mhz get affected with the clock? What if I had a faster cpu... the external clock, mem clock and pciE clock is at 3 different settings...(?)

Hello

I have pd 830 too. i have overclocked my processor to 3.7ghz and it is running stable. I like to point out that i do not need to increase the voltage even at 3.7 ghz. I believe you should not increase the voltage too. Regarding the crash........ why would you like to decrease the memory speed? do you have updated bios. for my asus p5nd2 sli deluxe edition motherboard, i have to update bios too many times. Sometimes the bios can give you a lot of troubles. All in all, do not increase the cpu voltage easily, and have your rams run at least in full speed.

Let me know if you have any questions.

lower your cpu voltage. can your psu give out enough juice? if you have two sticks of memory , take out one and try it again. Do not increase the voltage easily.

I've tryeg with only one mem, but no differense... But could the GPU get affected by this clock? Do I need to increase GPU volt? Or "lock" the pcie mhz? Don't know how to do that... 100 mhz is the lowest I can put it...

I've tryed to clock with "ClockGen" and pci/psie is locked there... But when I reach 3.350 ghz pc freezes... Tryer to increas volt on ram and cpu, and tryed to decreas mem speed, same thing happens, freezes at 3.350 ghz...

why?

Thank you!

Hello

i have the same processor and i have reached 3.7 with no problem. I do not even increase the voltage. You need to decrease your cpu voltage. what is your cpu temp. what is your bios version. do you have updated version. let me know . ok i want to help you.

bye.

Hi! I have the latest bois 1.3 (1/9/2006) CPU temp is at 30 - 40 C. I have AC freezer 7 pro. Cpu volt is stock 1.4
