Well I purchased a new PC to finally replace my 1.6ghz P4. Setup is as follows:

AMD 3200+ Venice /w stock cooling and artic silver
Asus A8N-VM mobo
G.Skill 1 x 512mb (448)
nVidia 6100 on-board (64)

I'm using the Asus bios and have the overclocking to 2.37ghz. The volts run 1.45-1.48, and temps are 35-36 idle and 40ish loaded.

Bios settings for overclocking are 236 and I dropped ram to 183 (366). The ram runs at 215.5 hz on a 2.5-3-3-6 timing.

Does this sound about right for the 3200 venice? And do I have alot more to go?

I've built computers, all intel & non-OC. I've also done alot of reading and research before buying. I really just want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction before I push my luck too far.

I'm not an OC specialist (but I peruse the unanswered stuff for interesting reads :)  ), but that's an ok oc on a venice. Its possible to get them higher, depending on how far you want to push it. 40-ish? What's the max? Run something like prime95's torture test or something like that for a couple hours and catch the highest temp. If its' 42 then great - you've got heatroom, if its 49 I'd say better cooling would be needed first.

The RAM I'm assuming is PC3200? I don't know much about the ram specifically, but if needed you can drop to a 166 RAM clock - The increased CPU speed more than makes up for the slower RAM.

with a memory divider at 133, HTT on 3x and CPU voltaje not above 1.6v, you can increase your FSB up to 270-290.

2.37GHz is quite low, you can try for more, 2.5GHz should be easy to reach. test the CPU stability in prime95 for at least 2 hours and the rams using memtest for about 1-2 hours. also check the temperature. above 55*C is not recomended for Venice.

i have my 3200 at 2.5. Hypothetically, since the Athlon 3200+ and the Athlon 3800+ have the same core, and the only difference is the multiplyer, you can "overclock" it to 2.4 without a sweat. my bus is 250 so I dont loose and performance with my HTT and never bother with voltage.
