I have a problem with Pocket Internet Exploer ("PIE" ) that I hop someone
might be able to help me with.
MY SYSTEM: I recently upgraded to the new iPAQ 4700 running PPC-2003(SE).
I love it. I access the Internet throughout the day through either Bluetooth
(using my paired Motorola v600 to tie me in through AT&T) or Wi-Fi (depending
on where I happen to be and what's available). PIE has always worked
flawlessly for me.
PROBLEM: A couple of days ago I installed the Citrix ICA Windows CE Client
in an attempt to access my Desktop and Network at my office. After a few
false starts, Citrix started performing well, but it was too cumbersome, too
awkward. Not enough benefit for me to keep it, so I uninstalled the entire
Citrix ICA client. Since then, PIE has almost completely failed. I still
get the "shell" of PIE -- that is, the familiar screen, the correct buttons,
the correct View, Tools and Icons, etc. -- but regardless of the site I try
to access (whether through History, Favorites or by manual entry of the
address into the URL box) and regardless of whether mobile-friendly or not,
I get the Internet Explorer dialogue box popping up with: "The page you are
looking for cannot be found." It comes up instantly, and that's it.
I'm assuming the removal of the Citrix ICA Client took with it some "piece"
of PIE. Is there a way to re-load PIE all by itself or fix this without hard
re-setting? I can't even find a PIE download. Hard re-setting wouldn't be
the end of he world, but it would be time consuming to get me back to where I
am now, even with my back-ups. I do have an advanced file explorer and a
registry editor if that will help, but while I'll give anything a try, I'm no
programming wiz or tech.
Any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated, even if
you can do nothing more than point me in the right direction.

Look for 'welcome.exe' in \Windows, and run it.
This will put you through the welcome screen that you were presented
with when you first initialised your PPC, but it will not harm any
data you stored. It is said that welcome.exe initialises some stuff
in PIE and makes it work again. Don't forget to soft reset first.

Did you try a hard reset. PIE is in firmware and cannot be reloaded as such.

Just curious,
I have been trying to get Citrix ICA to work on my 4700 too. When I try to
launch one of the apps from the Citrix desktop I get an error message that
says Citrix server not available, try again later. Did you encounter any
issues like this when you set it up for the first time?
Citrix thinks I the lack of a certificate from Verisign could be the issue
but they are unsure.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
