While it won't be the most powerful chip out there, the U2500 should be amazing for ultraportable laptops.

The new Yonah processor will be called U2500 (clock at 1.2GHz/2MB L2/533MHz FSB), support Intel Virtualization(VT) technology, Enhanced Intel Speed Step(EIST) technology, Intel EM64T technology (?? this is questionable) and Execute Disable Bit(XD Bit) technology. According to Intel, U2500 is price at USD$289.

The release date is June 25th.

According to the latest mobile roadmap:

that cpu would be good for HTPC's too. i'm sure it wouldn't require a fan and 1.2Ghz (dual core) is more than enough to decode h.264
Yeah that is a good point. Based on the rumors for Intel new integrated graphics (965G: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2548), the graphics chipset will have hardware accelleration for all the popular video codecs h.264 etc... so one could build a cool, silent, fanless HTPC with a very small form factor out of these parts. Interesting info for the future to say the least.

Wow that's nice, kind of like VIA's "Eden" line. http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/processors/eden_ulv/
No, not just like Yonah. Yonah is at least 3 times faster, it is dualcore 1.07GHz with 1MB shared L2.

You know, this is actaully a REALLY good point... with the IPC efficiency of the Core uArch, 1.2 GHz is likely to get near 2.0 or better GHz performance of a Netburst P4 and with dual core in action, well --- check out what this guy did:

No wonder Intel endorsed HD-DVD :) .... I guess we know where some of this excess P4 inventory will be going, HD-DVD players may drop in price faster than we think.

Nice link!

I'm sure Shakira-woo would cry out loud that guy & his friend weren't even released yet...

Cheers!

The Core Duo ULV has really been anticipated since the beginning and I'm actually a little bit disappointed that it's taken them 6 months to finally come out with it. I'm actually interested in the LV versions so hopefully the 1.83GHz LV will be released on June 25th along with the 1.2GHz ULV and the 2.33GHz regular. It's too bad the LV Meroms aren't expected until 2007. A 2GHz 15W Merom would be great.

don't forget the eden line is 90 nm while yonah is 65. smaller and more power/heat-efficient.

Wow 9W, that's pretty high actually. Considering they went to 65nm and dual core. I heard increased FSB to 533MHz has to do with a lot of the increases.
