[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]S3 came out how long ago? S4 is coming out in Feb... S3 mini is on the way and now the S3 Premier? You people complain Apple milks their customers... Apple has nothing on Android smartphones. New versions are coming out every 3-6 months..[/citation]

Theres a massive differences between your comment and the real thing.

S3 came out almost 5 months ago, by the time S4 comes out it will be like 9-12 months old.

S3 Mini isn't all new Cellphone it's simply an smaller phone boosting the same hardware as the original one, theres people who doesn't like big screens.

S4 will probably come out between May and june of next year.

Apple doesn't make "new" cellphones they just upgrade the hardware and tweak the thing a little bit...now that's milking because with an android phone if you wish, you don have to rely on official updates you can go to XDA or any site like that and download a custom room.

People who has an Android phone actually use it 1-2 years and then change it. with Apple products is much more a fashion gadget. yes people use it all day but anyone with a smart device use it more than be sitting on a pc a while just to be in social networks.

Apple has the amount of hate it has because theyre very overhyped and nothing good can came out of somenthig like that, look all those patent class lawsuits they exist becasue Apple products are so overhyped because of how does they closed garden of fantasies work so Apple thinks they can get away with theyre products and bully other manofacturers, now thats somenthing to be concerned about.

What? That's nothing compared to Krait and A15 at 1.5GHz and we've had them both for more than long enough to make more extensive use of them. Heck, Apple's A6 runs at a little over 1GHz and it significantly beats a dual-core 1.5GHz A9. A dual-core 1.5GHz A9 would have been impressive a year ago or a little less than a year ago, but it's not so great these days. The graphics seems to be incredible if what the article states is true, but the CPU, although good, is not great.

Apple also controls the hardware thus controls the compilers and thus... controls the byte code. I just am asking for perspective and really, what are you doing on your phone that it matters?

What's your point? None of that is relevant. I said that a 1.5GHz dual-core A9 SoC is not very impressive in CPU performance because it isn't in the face of more modern chips. Furthermore, it's not about what you do on your current phone, it's about what you could do if it was better. Apps can only get better if there's enough performance for improvements.

Each for a different market.

S3 Mini is for those who want a Galaxy, but don't like the big screen. And this is for the European market and is for those who want a phone in between the nexus and S3.

Fail more Apple Cultist.

Yes, really, someone still thinks the GHz arms race from the P4-era is still going on based on the first comment, nice attempt at a save in the retort however but doesn't do anything but look like an ignorant comment first out of the gate. Maybe if the first comment was a technical one and not some pithy soundbite it would have come across better. Note from teacher, must try harder.

I'm not whining and it's not impresssive to keep using older SoCs. Furthermore, frequency isn't the problem, performance is. Frequency and performance aren't even remotely the same thing.

What in my post says that I think that clock frequency = performance, what in my comment implies that I think that 1.5GHz is the issue, and what about my comment is ignorant?

I know you aren't whining blazorthon but I have given you something in my second comment that you found irrelevant. look again. hint: software means more than you think.

That isn't relevant to what I said. Software and such matter, but not in the context that I was talking about. I was speaking strictly of hardware comparisons, not aggregate performance. Even ignoring any software advantages, Apple's A6 is faster per MHz compared to Cortex A9.

Oh, Samsung... It would have been really sweet if you launched a Nexus variant (read AOSP code) of your flagship, along with whatever loaded version the carriers demanded from you. Getting to choose between a phone that gets updates directly from Google vs. a similar phone that gets updated at the carriers' whim would have been an awesome thing for customers and would have proven a point to the carriers, as well.

Your first post, the pithy 9 word soundbite - it's not what you said, it's what you didn't say, ie, anything useful or informative, which led you to elaborate with more detail later. But I though that was abundantly clear from my previous post, but here I go having to explain ad-nauseum. Again.

I didn't find the CPU of this phones SoC to be impressive. There's nothing that says I have to explain myself and I shouldn't have to explain myself given that why it's not impressive should be obvious. It's a a mere Cortex A9! Do I really need to give a technical explanation of why I'm not impressed by a one or two year old CPU?

S3 Mini is more for budget constraint user or those who prefer smaller sized phone. At least this gives opportunity to more people to experience smartphones. Even I myself, the 1 and only smartphone I'm having now is Samsung Galaxy Mini (The 1st gen), not because I wanted smaller screen, but due to budget constraint.

Because they are not going to show up their current flagship model the S3 with a cheaper, newer model are they.
Not every new phone is meant to outperform the previous release; just fulfill a different role, consumer need etc. and not everyone wants the biggest, fastest piece of kit but one thing is certain......there will always be someone who is disappointed with whatever comes out and feels it necessary to shout from the cheap seats.
Maybe if you were making executive decisions at Samsung it would've been the perfect phone with the perfect hardware........but then i guess there would still be someone complaining wouldn't there

They seem to have "showed it up" in graphics performance while losing to it in CPU performance. I'm not saying that the phone has to be perfect, it's just quirky.

now as far as I read the comments, they are about the CPU..... nobody about the GPU? For me it looks more like this thing will be really powerful. As far as my experience goes with these "smartphones" they were lacking more graphical power than CPU. I'm fine with dual core's :)

Reminds me of AMD. Perfectly balanced, don't you think?

EXACTLY! :)

I think that AMD's APUs are better balanced. The issue with smart phone CPUs is that compared to their GPUs, they're already oftentimes very weak (some of the smart phone and tablet SoCs are reaching for PS3/Xbox 360 level graphics performance whereas their CPUs are still several years behind in comparison). To take that to an even greater extreme is like doing the opposite of Intel's current methodology rather than finding a good balance like AMD did.

The S3, the Mini and the Premier all have different specs, sizes and prices. But hey bro... choice is bad right? Nice ding in there about people bashing Apple for milking, because a fast upgrade cycle with minimal changes isn't milking but offering different choices is huh? "Sip-sip-sip... sippin' on da Apple syzurp."

I think it's funny that the Apple apologist is complaining about consumer choice. Then again, it fits the Apple thought that consumers shouldn't have a choice.
