I connect to the network fine but it wont let me pick up my email. It

What kind of network are connecting to? Is this a wireless LAN, is it at
home, is this the same network where the pop server resides? Perhaps a GPRS
connection?

Not all pop servers are accessible from third party networks. Some GPRS
connections don't let you access anything but http (port 80)...

Give us more information :)
