Normal CPU usage at Idle

I have an AMD 64 4000+ on an ASUS 8N SLI board and it runs any where from 4 to 12 percent at idle. I've located the System string that's causing most of it, however if I suspend it, I lose the use of my flight controllers. Should I even be concerned about this small percentage of usage at idle. I suspect the conflict is between winXP and the drivers I need for the controllers(not certified).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Reformat. If you are running 4-12% at idle (and I mean truly idle, no virus scan running, and you can't find any spyware, etc...) then your system has got some problems, a quick reformat will fix it.

Unless it really is just lame drivers, but you can test that by removing them. If it is lame drivers and you need them and have no replacement for them, well that's life, heh.

Thanks for the input. It's got to be the "drivers". As I mentioned, when I suspend that system file, the usage goes to 1%.
