I've been thinking about 'upgrading' lately, and was thinkin about the Asrock 939dual mobo. Just curious as to what anyone may think about the AM2 'future CPU' upgrade slot. Think it may hinder performance much? I am hoping for a future article about that on Tom's here soon.. .

I'm interested in the moboard also, but for the AGP/PCIe slots.

I do not think it would be worth the change to AM2 (assuming you have s939 CPU setup already) because of having to buy all new DDR2 RAM to go along with it. By the time AM2 is better than the s939 there will be cheaper AM2 only boards with better chipsets to go along with the upgrade.

I have actually owned this motherboard for more than 6Mos, and I have to say I have been very satisfied with it. OCWorkbench can't seem to say enough about its potential, and they recently reviewed it with the AM2 cpu board in it:

Seems like not too much of a performance hit. And for $35 US, the upgrade board doesn't seem too bad, especially if you don't want to have to reinstall windows.

Seems to be the only place to find it at the moment though...

If you don't already have a 939 with plenty of ram, It wouldn't be too thoughtful to buy one now, unless you want the AGP/PCIe slots. In that case, $70 from newegg for this board is quite nice.
