I would recommend a 7600GT if you can afford one instead :-D

Otherwise get the ASUS.

but what if these versions were both 128mbram (the 256 is no longer available in the store), which is best?

More RAM doesn't do anything for a 6600. If they have same amount of RAM, they perform pretty much equal. Even if one has more RAM, it wouldn't perform better.

Indeed due to arch limitations more RAM does not equal more performance on the 6600 series

Unfortunately he can not use the 7600gt cause he has an AGP motherboard. I would spend a little more and get the 6600gt if you can. What motherboard and processor are you running btw?

Ya, my bad!!!

I would suggest a 6800 AGP then.

so i've read your opininions and considered in buying geforce 6600 gt from gigabyte (GV-N66T128VP), but i'm wondering, will my PSU (hiperpower350W)
support the load of this card ?

There is a 7600GS but it's not AGP at least not yet.

If this is true, it's coming out mid-July:

I hope it is true. i hate the crappy wattage they give the power supplies for those xpc's. It has a whopping 240watts

Indeed :-D

I have built several of them, the nice ones have 240W PSUs. The not-so-nice ones have 200W PSUs IIRC.

yea had they been available at the time I built it I woulda had her buy an aspire x-qpack and a biostar t-force board. She wanted the shuttle because it was small and did not want a regular sized tower.

The Shuttles are still very kewl and quite nice for their size.

The advent of CPUs and GPUs which consume a lot of power kinda messed things up tho.
