I use Laridian, and think its great. The basic Pocket Bible program is
good, I especially like the search features (enter a term, it brings up
every occurrence). With a little practice, you can get to a verse
quicker in the software than you can in a printed Bible. With the
various bibles and reference/devotional works that are offered, you can
customize quite a bit. Personally, I would need a large book bag to
carry around 3 bibles, an exhaustive concordance, a commentary, and a
large pack of scripture memory cards.... but these all fit into my pocket!
You can link to several reviews from the Laridian website -- check them
out. OliveTree and E-Sword also receive favorable comments, but I don't
have personal experience with them.

Do you carry around your PDA over your regular bible? Dont you feel
unique, being the only person or a 1 out of 1000 ratio that uses a PDA
over a regular bible? Does your PDA use CF flash and is this where you
store all your stuff? I cant imagine storing all those books into main
memory.
I use Laridian Bible as well as Palm Bible. I'm always the only person
using such software.

I use both OliveTree and Laridian.
Speed:
Laridian is painfully slow on versions with lots of notes (such as ESV).
Olivetree is amazingly fast.
Text Formatting
Laridian is using html formatting under the hood and does a good job
preserving the original formatting of poetry and the like. Olivetree
doesn't even try to preserve the formating. All the text is just
ran together in 10 verse "paragraphs". It is possible to embed
a break in a line, and Tanakh attempts to use this for lines of
poetry, but without indenting and proper wrapping, it is really
ugly.
Versions available
Both have most of the popular versions available. The notable
exceptions are Olivetree does not have NIV (but it is promised
next spring), and Laridian does not have NET (and given how
slow it is with lots of nots, it probably wouldn't be practical
anyway). Also Olivetree's NRSV does not have the notes.
Smartphone
Olivetree has a MS smartphone version that uses the same
Bible files.
VGA support
Neither supports VGA at the moment, although they are mostly
usable with Tweaks2k2's VGA hack. I have tested a prebeta
VGA suppport of Olivetree that was almost there, so I expect
them to have real VGA support real soon now.
Memory usage:
Olivetree is a bit of a memory hog compared to Laridian.
It occupies about 7 MB while running; Laridan
will consume only about 2 MB.
Updates:
Olivetree has frequent beta releases of new features and
fixes (averaging maybe 2-3 per month). Laridian only rarely
releases updates.

Well the fact that Laridian uses HTML formatting and Olive Tree Tree doe
snot will explain why laridian is so much slower.

Let's see:
1) For church, I carry a regular bible. But I have my PDA with me at
work, and when I travel, its really convenient versus carrying a book.
2) my Dell uses a SD card, and that's where I store the books; if you
were going much above say one bible, you would need the extra storage.
3) I use the ESV as my main translation, and it is slower than the NASB
or NIV, because of the extensive notes. I wouldn't describe the
difference as painful though -- maybe just as noticeable.

I use Pocket e-Sword with the NASB and MKJV as well and I am very
satisfied. My only complaint is that the search capability needs to be
speeded up.

Ditto. The only complaint I have runs across all bible software.
There's no way to insert annotations or foot notes.
Examples:
verses that contradict each other.
verses that have been incorrectly translated or edited from the original
text.
links to corresponding/contradicting/conflicting text in Koran, Book of
Mormon, Etc...

I use Pocket bible with the NIV and Message. Speed seems OK to me.

I just opened up Mt 12 in NIV on Pocket Bible. It took 20
seconds before the busy spinner quit. I regard that as fairly
painful. To be fair, I have NIV on a not particularly fast
SD Card, but ditto for Olivetree, and I can bring up
mt 12 and scroll through the whole chapter in a fraction
of that much time.

I just tried opening Mt 12 in NIV on Laridian Pocket Bible from a 256MB
Lexar SD card; it took me all of 5 seconds before the busy spinner quit. I
am using an iPAQ 3955.
