...only problem is, the processor, the X2 4000+, is out of stock. They said they do not expect any stock of it in for a few weeks.

Is it worth getting the basic non-dual-core 3800+ for socket AM2?...

The rig wil be primary for gaming.

personally I would stick to dual core. Multicore processing is the future, as time goes on more and more software will be written to take advantage of multiple cores.

Can't you get it somewhere else? I'm sure that is not the the only place that sells a 4000+ X2. Don't give up the dual core idea, you'll regret it if you do. In time you'll see.

I agree, hold out for dual core. A couple of weeks is not as a bad a wait as it seems. Keeps shopping around, though. Somebody may have the one you want in stock.

You must not read very well, because it clearly says a ETA of June 30th on all of those AM2 processors. So don't go off being a jerk telling people to read more clearly when you yourself don't.
