Greeting, I'm going to setup a new PC, as I'm getting broadband online acess. So, online games are my hot-cake rolling in next.

Below are my initial buying plan, and I'm going to get them so, do welcome any input:

Mobo - MSI Intel 945PL Neo
- socket 775, can support Pentium D 8XX, Intel® ICH7 Chipset (4 SATAII ports), Supports DDRII 533/400 memory interface, One PCI Express x16 and x1 slot.

CPU - P4 506 (2.667 GHz)

RAM - Kingston 512 MB DDR2-533

Graphic - MSI NX 6600 LE
- 256 MB DDR

Sound - Creative S.B. Audigy Value

---

Looks good enough for online games? like Dungeon Siege 2, Tribes 2 Revenge, WoW ?

tq

You've made some good choices to save $$$, although most would say the P4 isn't the best choice for gaming. However, that 506 is probably very overclockable so you can speed it up a bit very easily if you want to.

That 6600LE card is relatively weak since they use DDR memory on these LE cards to put them more towards the low end of performance. Can't argue with the price however, they are a lot cheaper than the 6600GT... but the GT would be a better gaming choice.

S939 is much better for gaming and beats all P4s across the board.

If you must buy Intel wait for con-roe[TM] otherwise buy an S939 or AM2.

Live long and prosper! :-D

I agree with linux_0 and Scout: P4's SUCK! Check Tomshardware's CPU charts if you don't believe me. Wait for Conroe or if you need a new PC now, consider AM2 or Socket 939.

Bump it up to a gig of RAM. You're talking, like, forty more dollars, and that's going to give you a very noticeable performance boost. About the most cost effective change you can make.

Also, unless you are seriously stuck on the idea of getting a sound card, I'd suggest going with integrated audio and applying that money to either a better processor (*cough*939*cough*) or a better video card. Yeah, sound cards are better, but how much better? And does a bit of an increase in your sound quality win over improved gaming quality? Just a thought.

well, I already bought that stuff, the g-card is NX6600 256, LE no stock.

Thx for input, well me kind of rushing for getting the PC :D

I initially drafted up the spec based on the 3 games recommended spec, its good enough to surpass the min spec :)
