ok, i think this might be the moniter i'm gonna go with, but there's one thing i'm not sure about. Is this moniter a aperture grille or shadow mask? i couldn't find anything stating either kind.
Also, if anyone has any comments/reviews on this moniter i'd be glad to hear what you have to say about it before i buy it.
thanks

It's neither. Slot-mask.

never heard of slot mask..is this a good thing?

don't know for sure, but I think a slot mask is a shadow mask with rectangular holes, someting in between a shadow mask and an aperture grille.

My brother has the LG 915+ and loves it very much. I've used it and I like it too. Good monitor for a good price.

Heres a very good page explaining the 3 types:

From <A HREF="http://www.proton-usa.com/service/pc-tech.htm#q2" target="_new">http://www.proton-usa.com/service/pc-tech.htm#q2</A>:

<font color=red>Shadow Mask</font color=red>
<b>Pro:</b>
- Excellent vertical and horizontal definition
- Crisp diagonal lines with no jagged edges
<b>Con:</b>
- Color not as vivid as Aperture.

<font color=red>Aperture Grill</font color=red>
<b>Pro:</b>
- Vivid color and higher contrast.
<b>Con:</b>
- One or two visible dampening wires.
- Jagged edges on the diagonal line
- Distorts horizontal linearity when graphic elements rendered on the edge of the grill.

<font color=red>Slot Mask</font color=red>
<b>Pro:</b> All the advantages above.
<b>Con:</b> Not as bright as Aperture Grill

The LG flatron screens are very good, comparable to trinitron. You would have to compare them side to side to see a difference.
I promised not to post any more flatron reccomendations today, guess I lied :)

I've had the 915FT for about a month now.. After adjusting and fiddling with the image geometry, I'm still not entirely happy with it, there's still some cruvature to the left and right, and a minor upward curve on the top left. It seems like there's still some minor miss-alignment at the alignment features in the 'Special adjustment' menu don't fix it. Super-fine text looks slightly blury on the left half of the screen, that's probably a symptom of the imperfect geometry. (I know it may sound picky, but sheesh, my cheapo Acer 17" was dead straight, and sharp!)

I am satisfied with the brightness, colour, etc. I really like how it's flat, but doesn't look concave like most trinitrons - it truly LOOKS flat.
