I was just wondering what the best 6800 series graphics card was...im looking for a new graphics card, and i found a website that has all their 6800 series cards for about $99-any help would be appriciated

if there is a 6800 GS card included in that line up then go for it !
Try to get XFX Geforce 6800 GS XXX Edition, it is highly factory overclocked
and the performance is very good

If you can spend a bit more (50$) you could get this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1931188&CatId=0
and it would beat any 6800 series card, exept maybe the ultra. I just replaced my 6800 gs with a 7600 gt and 3dmark05 went from 6129 to 6753 and I can play Oblivion at 1024 with high settings. If you plan to oc the card my 7600gt stock is 560 core 700 mem and it goes to 625 core 835 mem and I read about some people running them even faster.

6800Ultra is best card from the 6800 series of cards.

It would help to know if your talking about AGP or PCI-E.
The only 6800 PCI-E I believe is the Extreme.

Could you please direct me to the website you are referring to? I've got a PCIe 6800 Ultra 512mb from BFG and I'm looking to get another one to put in SLI. But only if it's cheap!

6800 ultra extreme is the best 6800 series card, although extremely rare.

You're not going to find a 6800Ultra for $99.

I fear you are correct. But if I could get one for what I would pay for two new top of the line video cards, I'm thinking I may still come out ahead and not feel like I wasted a ton of cash on the 6800Ultra (which is how I feel now!).

The 6800XT is nothing compared to the 6800Ultra.
June 4, 2006 7:24:33 PM

for $99 HOLY SH!7 that is amazing well if you can also direct me to that site and if they have agp cards?

Why put them in the same sentence?

Well, unless I'm not finding things well, the ultra is significantly more expensive, whereas a 512 gddr3 with a 1000mhz mem clock for $179 seems pretty solid to me.

Just so we're clear, I agree the ultra is way better, but it seems as if price is an issue which disqualifys the ultra.

6800 Ultra.....

If you can put up with the heat and the amout of power it uses 2x molex.

If you do get one the leadtek version has about a 1 kg of copper attached around and behind the GPU very nice and easy to OC.

These cards were difficult to find when they were in production they are even harder to find now.

Yes, but it has better specs than every other 7600gt that I could find...so whatever its 50 bucks

are you sure that the eVGA Geforce 7600GT is better than the
EVGA GeForce 7600 GT KO, the evga 7600Gt Ko has better slightly better specs, but if the 7600 gt is better ill buy it
Specs:
GeForce 7600 GT KO:

Video Memory
256MB

Memory Type
256-bit (not sure if that is right, i think it is supposed to be 128bit)
GDDR3

Core Clock
750 MHz

Memory Clock
1500 MHz

-Geforce 7600GT:-
Video Memory
256MB

Memory Type
128-bit
GDDR3

Core Clock
580MHz

Memory Clock
1500MHz

SO its the same card-in that case ill get the cheaper one (the Gt Ko is like $5 cheaper, and I already have a account with tiger Direct), and I have one more question howcome most of the 7900 graphics cards have a slower core clock than the 7600's, is that because they have a higher memory bandwidth, and more pixel pipelines?

Newegg makes up for it with cheaper & faster shipping, faster processing, better service and more accurate specs.

I would recommend Newegg over Tiger any day.

K, that works, ill order it form newegg
June 7, 2006 11:42:42 PM

The 7900 have more pixel pipelines than the 7600, so the higher clock on the 7600 isn't enough to compensate for the lesser pipes

Try Ebay, you might find a 6800 Ultra at a good price, espacilly it is very hard to find it new at retalers.

So, I want to ask you guy, it the 7600GT Better than 6800GT? I got my 6800GT a year a go for about $400, I was so happy with it and thinking, hey if I need more performance, I can go SLI.
But really how much better is the 7600GT?

It's not easy to compare them but I believe the 7600GT is quite a bit better.

It runs cooler, consumes less power than the previous generation cards

It runs cooler, consumes less power than the previous generation cards and supports shader 3.0

:-DIf I'm not mistaken, all 6-series cards, even the 6200, support SM3.0.

My bad, I was thinking ATI! I corrected it.

Thanks :-D
