Received new bill today. Realized I forgot to pay last month's bill.
But I'm charged for a late fee of $5.00 anyway. Is Cingular allowed to
do that? They are getting to be like credit card companies.

Look at your Service Agreement- it says that they can and that you agreed to
it.

Well, for thirty days, they *are* offering you credit. If you don't
like that, get a pre-pay plan so they cut you off when you don't pay.
That way you avoid late fees.

The way you word this makes me think that you think you should be
excused from getting a late fee on your bill for some reason. Why? Is
it because you "realized you forgot to pay last month's bill"??

"I just realized I forgot, which should automatically excuse me, but
they charged me a late fee anyway." That's what it sounds like you're
saying.

Of *course* they can charge you a late fee. Check the terms of service.
