I haven't been able to find a solution to this anywhere, I'll see if any of you can find one.
Scenario:
I have my laptop that I use as my main computer. I have another computer (tower, and LCD monitor), that are both hooked up normally, by themselves.
What I want is to have the LCD monitor to show my laptop's screen as its secondary monitor, and have it be able to switch back to show its computer's actual screen. This is so I can record on that computer, what is on my laptop screen, so that my laptop isn't being totally bogged down.
I cannot get either of the computers to read the other's monitor through the cable I am using, I'm not sure if it is the right cable (it very well could be) or if there are some other settings that I must...set. I have tried many things already, but there is nothing I can find anywhere that has this kind of scenario.
Are you trying to record the output of the laptop screen onto your other computer?
Or are you trying to use the LCD screen as a monitor for your computer and as a secondary screen for your laptop?
use the LCD screen as a monitor for your computer and as a secondary screen for your laptop?
correct.
KVM switch? Sounds like what your looking for...
Although from your entire description I'm a bit puzzled as to if this is what your actually looking for...
KVM = Key Board Video Mouse: basically you plug multiple PC's into one switch and then select which one you want to use the KVM you have plugged into the switch.
There may be a reduced version of this for just video swiching but I am not aware of it.
No that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to use BOTH at the same time. Both should be able to run at the same time, but the LCD Monitor should be the secondary monitor for the laptop, and switchable back to the computer as primary

You can't use one display with 2 computers at the same time.
The best you can do is get a KVM switch and switch between them.
It's not one display with 2 computers, it is 2 displays of one computer. I want the laptop to use both its own screen and the LCD, WHILE, the other computer is still hooked up to the LCD so it can record from it.

First, what do you keep on meaning when you say, "so it can record from it"
Second, with a VGA Switch like this, you could have your laptop screen (we'll call it screen 1), and your LCD screen as a secondary monitor for the laptop through the VGA switch (this is screen 2), and from your computer to the LCD screen through the VGA switch (which is screen 3).
You would only need to flip the VGA switch and you would switch between screen 2 (secondary monitor of laptop) and screen 3 (monitor of computer). The monitor of the laptop is always present.
