I am thinking of buying a old HP color LJ 5M, I have had a lj 4M for
years now and, if I remember it correctly, its life expectancy is
around 1.5 million copies, but how about the color lj 5m?

Secondly, should the toner cartridges be removed during transport, I
think so?

Any help will be most appreciated,
mike

No clue as to what the life of a color lj 5 is (but I hope it is a lot
because I have one). You might want to check the printer test page to
see what the % life used for various things are - IIRC the drum, color
developer, and b&w developer are fairly expensive while other things
like the drum coating kit and toner collection kit are cheap (< $25).
I've gotten some good prices on ebay, but I've also found cases where
the HP website is cheaper than ebay.

And you can't remove the toner cartridges because it is loose toner. I
moved one by car from DC area to Boston area with no problems.

Good luck.
