Let me know what you think
o man, thats hot. a big improvement over my grandpa's p3 500. and that gf2 gts, o man, my mouth is watering. that taulutian should gain u some rep in this forum.
what exactly did you spend the $40 on?
Also: building a computer out of a box of "junk" parts is always fun.

MB:Intel 815 D815EPFV $25.00
Video:Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS $15.25
Total $40
I mean for $40 you cant beat that i mean it does not play wow the best but it play's it =D and i play COD and i mean it plays what i want it to play so thats all that it matters to me =D
Cool! Another one of those "I don't care how it looks as long as it plays" people. You enjoy that "new" rig of yours; especially the graphical power provided by that GF2
Its way better then my celeron 466. i am saving up for Amd Socket AM2 or Maybe if really wanna get into intel Pentium D's But i have always been with amd throw thick and thin lol...because i was goin to build a Sempron 64 Socket AM2 or maybe get anthlon i dont know yet because when i build a computer i really wanna it to least for about 2-3 years or maybe more thats why i got other job so i can have a nice computer
If anybody has any idea's on building a nice system let me know please
Toss Return To Castle Wolfenstein on that thing while you're at it. Maybe even the original (and still the best) Half Life. Don't got em?? I hear you can get them here.

You got to admire those kind of people, they don't blow five thousand dollars cash on PC parts like me and many others
.

Look what I found on eBay. I'm amazed that anyone would pay anything for that POS; you couldn't pay me to take that junk.

That auction is fishy. Believe you me, no one is bidding on it. I think the jackass seller has another account and is bidding it. He has 10 other auctions just like it.
I mean all i would need to spend is about $500 to $900 to have a good gaming computer for me i only play a few games Like WoW,Cod2,BF2 but i am mostly play Wow. i will put my spec's of my new computer on here and tell me what you think
Hmm did you notice the bidding history? Looks awfully suspicious. In fact a lot about that ad looks suspicous, but I'm paranoid anyway.
Edit: mpjesse beat me to it. Stupid job always gets in the way of my posts.

If I had that thing, I'd trade it for a Super nintendo game. That thing is shi7.
You mean that thing is THE sh*it. You know u want it...

Not a bad system. Looks like you realized that GPU performance is more important than CPU when gaming. It'll play the latest games nicely.
Funny thing, even though it's only a $100 processor, that thing will still play games perfectly.
| Quote : Funny thing, even though it's only a $100 processor, that thing will still play games perfectly. |
Tell me about it. That system will likely play Half-Life 2 at maximum settings, that means 1600X1200, HDR, the whole bit.
Actualy the 1Ghz P3 is probably good enough for alot of emulation or emulators SNES, Sega Genisis, NES, MAME.... Thats what I would do stuff it in a cabinet
Sounds like fun if you ask me. Just buy a PS2 controller adapter at Radio Shack for like 10$ and a PS2 controller for like 20$ you would be all set for hours and hours of retro fun !!!

You could have gotten a Ti4200 AGP 4x for $33
At geeks.com. The total would only be about $55! With double (?) the performance!!
Oh well, too late. Enjoy your system!
With $40 you could probably find a 9700pro.. which would put some killer graphics performance on a system like that :-)

It would be bottlenecked by the CPU, which is a P3.

I dont know about that but for emulators the video card doesnt do anything
well unless you emulate PS1 or N64 (there are some other more buggy 3D emu's too.) but that system would be fine for older 2D emulation wich is thousands of games.

Umm it can only use SDR
although thats an awesome deal and I may just have to pick some up for myself lol

I blew $630 on a refurb HP with an early Prescott. The CPU fried, and I spent another $500 buying a new case, PSU, CPU, and motherboard to get the damn thing to work again. I was able to reuse the RAM, video card, HDD, and DVD drives. I learned two lessons: 1) Never buy anything that says "refurb" or "open box" and 2) Prescott sucks

Do you use that 6GB HDD for the swap file?
Goddamnit; a double post. I fukcing hate when I do this

LMAO. Calm down
. It doesn't matter sometimes if you only press once, it can double post anyway. I bought my PC form a guy named Stan, he said it had everything I need: http://stansellseverything.ytmnd.com/ JK.

I actually got an A7A266 MoBo and 1.2 GHz T-bird by asking a friend of mine to pull it out of his garbage. It was a buggy board that he could never get running right over the years so he finally tossed it. Well, I looked at it, updated the BIOS (11 revisions had passed), added some old spare parts, and viola!
Here's the real kicker: this system is actually faster than my father-in-law's 2.0 GHz P4 Dell.

Yep. Modify the AGP to fit PCI-e and that sucker will OC well beyond X1900XTX. Don't forget to double up on the RAMsinks and polish your power supply's fan blades. That's hyper-critical. Wax on, wax off.

That reminds me of the way people order stuff at work. 3 bucks of nuts and bolts shipped next day for $13. That makes a lot of sense, uh huh.
nice...

I just find it impressive that they managed to put two GPUs on one card back in 2000.
