Back in the late days of SoD.. probably a few months back, solar power was the talk.
I had pointed out a local company that is leading the industry in solar panels.. I mentioned it would be a great company to invest money in when it goes public.

2 weeks ago it went public. Shares were thought to start at $17-$19. They started off at $21, rose to $28/$29 at this point.

Previous solar power companies did the same as cited and exceeded higher limits. Its still a good time to jump into this stock.

Anyhow.. I wanted to point on my little stock prediction that it would be a money maker.

With the short history available on solar power company stocks, I'm going to drop a few pennies into this stock and ride it out for 2-3 years. My coworker's husband has worked at this company since the days of only 8 of them working there. The company employes hundreds now. While I had no insider trading knowledge.. which is illegal, I do know how the company runs and that the employees are top notch and have a ton of new solar energy changing products due out in the future.

If you can spare a couple hundred dollars, its definately a stock to invest in.

I read an article that google is going to install the largest privately owned solar panel array on the top of their buildings and property.

Google is the only major tech company really trying to reduce energy use. They're always trying to find new ways to reduce...

Yeah I had read a bit on that.

First Solar is making smaller panels.. last I was told their current one they're getting ready to release will be far smaller than current panels and produce the same amount of power. I want to say it was 1/10th the size, producing the same amount at that.

Hey, why did you move to Sylvania, Ohio? Mike, you getting more ass over there, or what?

Remember that time we talked about Perrysburg, Ohio? I just had a past-post flashback.

Perrysburg is the rich area of town.. I was getting double taxed and found myself driving through the 'gauntlet' too often to get to the night life and bars/clubs/other places.

I moved to Toledo/Sylvania because its the 2nd rich suburb :) and my drive is cut in half, the location has more to offer, taxes are lower, excellent school system, and I bought a place. Same place in Perrysburg would run about twice as much and taxes would be 5 times more per half.

Perrysburg land is limited as everything is spaced out and they're trying to keep the mid-middle class and lower out. Average income of a Perrysburg family would be around $150-$200k a year.

Check out some housing costs in the area.. only one area can anyone even live and its considered the drug area.. modular homes and trailors, still selling for $60k because its Perrysburg.

First Solar gains $9.44 in heavy trading

A day after posting its first profit in its 20-year history, Toledo-born First Solar Inc. turned red hot in the stock market yesterday.

The company’s shares gained $9.44 each to close at $43.72, with nearly 5.9 million trading on Nasdaq, more than seven times normal levels.

The solar panel maker, which is based in Phoenix but has its sole factory in Perrysburg Township, started trading in October at about $20 a share. The firm reported a $4 million profit Tuesday after the stock market closed. The company also was touted yesterday by national Wall Street analyst Jim Cramer.

Whilst admirable, I do believe that to be open to a great deal of speculation.

I dont know about that...yet. Yes, from an ethical perspective, I love it and admire you, Rise, for investing in it. However, I'd seriously sit down and analyse the company's finances and balance sheet before pouring it in and I'd also want to know what government regulations there are surrounding alternative energy in whatever state[s] they're operating in -- tax breaks, incentives etc..

It looks like a bit of a "black box" stock to me.

Over in Australia, you people get a lot of sun, don't you? I know here in SA we get lots of the stuff and most of it gets wasted on tans and turning dark blue Audis into mobile furnaces instead of something useful like driving heavy industry and my PC.

I'm not going to continue, otherwise this is going to become another one of my annoying ecopolitical rants.

The guy who helped get this company started was in the top 5 of the US or World's richest people alive. He died a few years ago in a plane crash.

The company is sold 5-7 years ahead of schedule mainly to Germany producing a lot of solar panels for them. They're constantly breaking through with new technology since they a large amount of capital and strictly focus on it. I know a few people who work for this company, one of them being my coworker's husband. He's worked there since there were only 12 of them doing it.

The company survived because the billionaire kept investing in them, which is why making a profit wasn't the goal - making reliable, powerful solar power was the goal. They have now done this and you can see how its benefiting them.

The company has nothing but solid ground to stand on, they're expanding again to ratchet up production and meet more demands. My coworker's husband is traveling over in Europe right now for business - finding out needs, demands, what they want, what to improve.

I wasn't aware how focused on solar power Germany is until I found out more about First Solar. Apparently, Germany has one of the world's largest investments in solar power.

I see nothing but good coming from this stock. I wish I had taken my own advice and dropped a few dollars in there. I still might toss some money in and let it ride. You will see this company do very well and continue to grow.

I brought it up months ago saying it was a company to watch out for.. and here we are a few months later and they went up over $10 since I mentioned it.

This just in. First Solar Inc. was bought today by Exxon Mobile who immediately proceeded to dismantle the little company from the ground up. Employees of First Solar Inc. were quickly separated from their current First Solar Inc. departments and assimilated into various Exxon Mobile departments including:

The Department of Oil is God
The Department of Oil for Needy Rich Countries
The Department of Greenhouse Gases for a Better Tomorrow
The Department of Screwing over the Fellow Man For An Extra Buck (TDOSOTFMFAEB for short)

All employees who did not conform where immediately shot in the face and buried in one large mass grave deep underground where their decomposing bodies would be put to good use producing methane gas as part of The Department of Environmentally Safe Recycling.
