Greetings all, I am a noob here, but I am getting a new Del:

Dell Dimension E510 Series Pentium® D Processor 940 with Dual Core Technology (3.2GHz, 800FSB)
Memory 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
Hard Drive 160GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ 8MB cache
Sound Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic (D), w/Dolby® Digital 5.1

I play Guild wars and Star Wars Galaxies, and want to max out the graphics settings with no downside.

Newer games I play are the new tomb raider and Star Wars Empire at war.

What card would be best for what I am looking for?

I have been looking at the Geforce 7900 gtx 512mb, would anything cheaper do the job?

7900GTX will do the job for you. Also consider a X1900XT.

Fair warning to you, I just bought a dell xps with dual 7900 Gs cards and they are AWFUL!! Had the computer three days and have already decided to return it, dont fall for the service reps, "Dude the 7900 GS is so much cheaper and it still throws down games like woah speech".
