Hi,
Im building myself a system:

amd X2 3800+ socket 939
dfi SLI-DR motherboard
evga 7900GT
4x74gb raptors

I play demanding games like FEAR, quake4 etc. 50% of the time and the rest of the time im either on photoshop or 3d max.

which memory do you guys recommend I get?
which memory will give me the most bang for my buck?
I dont wanna spend an xtra $100 on a performance increase i would never notice.

Thanks.

2x1GB is going to operate faster then 4x512MB, the memory controller operates more effeciently with only two DIMMs to controll instead of four.

OCZ
Mushkin
Corsair
Geil

These are among the most well respected memory brands around.
I have 1GB(2x512MB) OCZ EL PC3200 that I have been satisfied with. The first set that I got was defective but I didn't have any trouble getting them replaced through Newegg.com. The replacements will overclock to DDR450 while maintaining CAS 2.

I borrowed a 1GB(2x512MB) set of PC4400 Geil RAM from a friend for a while and that stuff worked pretty well too. It needed a lot of voltage to get the rated speeds but the particular set was specified to run up to 3.1v so it wasn't a big surprise. I got my system to post with the memory running at DDR560 with that RAM.
